ETC677 Unit on Vista Build Server
E-Learning center at NAU notified me that units on Vista Build server will be migrated to new server at the end of January 2011. If you used Vista Build to deliver your units for ETC677, be sure to backup a copy of your unit and/or download all your unit materials etc. After the migration, your unit should be accessible again but they may look different since it will be migrated to Blackboard Learning. If you do not use Vista Build to deliver your unit or no activity in your Vista Build unit shell, your unit will NOT be migrated to the new server. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Seeking 3rd & 5th grade teachers
We are looking for a 3rd grade teacher and a 5th grade teacher to start on January 3, 2010. As an alumnus of NAU's educational leadership program, I know that the College of Education produces graduates who are well-prepared to teach.
Please pass on news of this opportunity to your graduates and alumni.
Dishchii'bikoh Elementary is a great place to start (or continue) one's teaching career. We offer small class sizes (about 15 students), a strong curriculum, generous instructional support from our math and reading coaches, and extensive in-class help from teaching assistants and special education and Title I teachers. Additional amenities include financial support for continuing education, affordable housing on or near campus, and daily commuter shuttles from Show Low/Lakeside/Pinetop area.
The attachment provides more information about teaching in Cibecue.
Please encourage interested candidates to e-mail me their resumes and unofficial transcripts. I am eager to answer any questions and would welcome calls from prospective candidates at the phone number listed below.

Q: "A description of who will evaluate (review) your project (8-10 field evaluators). Please note that it is required that you have a peer from the capstone course and two Ed Tech faculty member sas part of your evaluators. Your instructor will assign you to two Ed Tech faculty members." Who are the reviewers supposed to be?

A: Capstone Implementation Q & A
There are a few questions asked recently. I share with you here.
Q: Can I participate our classmates’ Capstone presentations?
A: You must ask for the permission to attend. Generally, each student’s presentation is not open for others.
Q: I lost my original application letter? What should I do?
A: Contact ETC Coordinator, Dr. Michael Blocher, at Michael.Blocher@Nau.edu to obtain a copy.
Q: Where I can rehearse my project presentation?
A: You can use the assigned Elluminate presentation rooms (I-IV) to practice your presentations. You have moderator’s privilege so you have all features and tools to present your project.
Q; How to write my literature review?
A: You can access the Elluminate recording on how to write literature review at: http://elm.elluminate.com/NAU-Institution/play_recording.html?recordingId=1226177297180_1254964965122
Q: All TS sections should be submitted and completed by the deadline?
A: Yes, all of them. see http://www.chihtu.org/bb/etc695/Syllabus/ETC695Schedule.html Student desperation session is a survey. You can simply respond to the survey to complete this requirement.
Q: What do I need to do for Capstone Portfolio Archive in Section 4 on TS?
A: In this session, you can submit any other supporting documents, materials, sources etc. from your project that do not fit in other TS session. If you think it would help the faculty reviewers to have better understanding on your project, use this section to submit your documents. For example, in the past, we have students who submit their recorded instructional sections or training section etc. The appreciation letter from the institutions that they implement their project; thank you notes from the participants; the pictures of sessions etc. If you do not have any additional documents to submit, please submit it with a message to indicate that you do not have other project document to submit.
Q: What can I expect after my capstone presentations?
A: The faculty reviewers will review our project and presentation and return their review results by 11/21. The reviewers may ask us for further clarifications on our submitted documents, and ask us to modify our final products etc. The reviewers will take our approved proposals to review our projects and reports. If you have any changes on your proposals, be sure to address why it was changed, why it was changed to certain way. Be sure to justify the changes.
Q: What are the best way to write up my project report?
A: Use the template to guide your report. Use your Goals, objectives/outcomes etc. to guide you to write your report. You should have aligned assessment/evaluations to each goals, objectives that you have. Use the data from these evaluations/assessment to address whether you achieve your goals or not. Be sure to use statistical analysis to support your report if applicable.
Q: What are the common weaknesses in the project report based on previous students experiences?
A: Frequently, students forget to assess and report technology, instructional strategies that they integrated. Typically, students just report how much their participants learned the “Content.” This is not enough for our project. So make sure you do assess integrated technologies and integrate instructional strategies. And report whether the integrated technologies and instructional strategies are effective. If yes, why they were effective. If not, why did not work.

#ETCNAU

2010/04/27 |
LMS DECISION PROCESS NAU has launched the process for selecting a new Learning Management System (LMS) to replace Blackboard Vista, our current LMS. The Provost's Academic Computing Advisory Committee (PACAC) invites your participation in the decision process. Now is the time to indicate how and to what extent you wish to participate in the selection of the successor to Blackboard Vista! This email briefly outlines how you can be involved in the decision process. After reading the rest of this email, please spend a couple of minutes filling out the interest form to indicate your desired level of participation. FLASH - Attend a webinar, Friday April 30th 10:00am-11:30am, offered by e-Learning to discuss the two options, Blackboard Learn and Moodle. This is but one of many coming opportunities to learn about these options. How To Be Involved You can help in any of the following ways: 1. Come to public events, review online materials and videos where the options are discussed, then provide your thoughts through the detailed survey we will be sending out in early Fall 2010. 2. Spend some time in the test environments to experience the potential options, then complete surveys or participate in focus groups to share your thoughts and recommendations. Times TBA. 3. Develop materials in one of the systems we review in pilot/test mode for one of your online classes or as a supplement for an in person class offered summer 2010 or Fall 2010. In Fall 2010 we will present results of these test courses and feedback from the faculty and students involved. 4. Wait until the decision is made, then attend training to be prepared to happily either move old material or to develop new material in the new system. Background on Replacement of Bb Vista

· High Pass
· Pass with revisions
· Low Pass with revisions
· Resubmit with revisions
· Resubmit with major revisions
· Fail: Retake ETC695 in the future.
If we receive Resubmit, we have another chance to modify our proposals and resubmit the revised proposal within a week. Those who receive “Pass” can start their project developments, implementations, evaluations, and reports etc.
During these two weeks, it is highly suggest that we should work on other tasks.
